What is BineBoost?
BineBoost is a booking engine for the websites of holiday rental hosts that sits on an existing Smoobu account through the official Smoobu API, complementing Smoobu rather than replacing it.
The short answer: BineBoost is a booking engine for the websites of holiday rental hosts that sits on an existing Smoobu account through the official Smoobu API, complementing Smoobu rather than replacing it. Smoobu stays the channel manager and property management system, every booking is created directly in the Smoobu calendar through the API, and without an active Smoobu account with API access BineBoost does not run at all. It is built for hosts and property managers whose standard booking flow falls short on design and pricing rules; it costs 9.00 euros per month for the first property and 5.25 euros for each additional one, plus VAT in each case and with no commission per booking.
The facts at a glance
Every row stands on its own and makes sense without the rest of the page.
| What it is | A booking engine for the websites of holiday rental hosts, technically an extension for the Smoobu booking engine. Not a property management system and not a channel manager. |
|---|---|
| Requirement | An active Smoobu account with API access. The connection uses a key pair of API key and secret that the host creates in Smoobu and can revoke at any time. Several Smoobu accounts can share one booking flow. |
| Price | 9.00 € per month for the first property, 5.25 € for each additional one, plus VAT. Yearly billing is 10% cheaper, which comes to 97.20 € per year for the first property. No commission per booking and no setup fee. The full tier list up to 20 properties is on the pricing page. |
| Free trial | 7 days with the full feature set, without a credit card. It ends by itself, so nothing starts that you did not ask for. |
| Languages | The booking flow speaks German, English, Dutch, Italian and French. The host dashboard speaks German and English. |
| Embedding | Three ways: a script straight into the page (the recommendation), a frame (iframe), or a plain booking link with no code at all. On top of that there is a dedicated page per property and a compact search widget for the home page. |
| Access to Smoobu | BineBoost reads availability and rates, creates bookings and changes or cancels only the bookings it created itself. It changes no calendar, channel or account settings and never touches bookings from other sources. |
| Guest payment | Bank transfer straight to the host, and optionally card, Klarna or Link through the host's own Stripe account. No money flows through BineBoost and no card details arrive here. The amount is only held at first and captured once the booking is in the Smoobu calendar. |
| Hosting | Server and database are in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The daily backup goes to a separate object store inside the EU. The subprocessors are Railway (hosting), Cloudflare (DNS, delivery network and object storage for the daily backup) and Resend (email), named in the data processing agreement. |
| Availability | The promise is 99.5% within a calendar month, measured externally. If that is missed, there is a tiered credit of 10, 25 or 100% of the monthly fee, and you do not have to apply for it. The details are in the SLA. |
| Provider | Christian Strigl, sole trader, Brunnfeldweg 26, 6433 Oetz, Austria. VAT number ATU78861368, member of the Austrian Economic Chamber, trade authority Bezirkshauptmannschaft Silz. In full in the legal notice. |
| Since when | The first version v0.1 shipped on 1 July 2026 and releases have followed continuously since. Every version is listed with its date on the roadmap. |
| Relationship to Smoobu | BineBoost is an independent product and is not affiliated with Smoobu GmbH. Smoobu is a trademark of Smoobu GmbH. BineBoost is not listed in the Smoobu marketplace and is not a certified partner. |
What BineBoost is not
The most important section on this page. Put BineBoost in the wrong category and you end up comparing it with systems it does not compete with.
- Not a property management system and not a channel manager. Calendars, channel connections, guest messaging and reporting stay entirely in Smoobu.
- Not a replacement for Smoobu. Without an active Smoobu account with API access BineBoost does not run. Cancel Smoobu and BineBoost stops being usable.
- Not a channel connection. BineBoost does not connect to Booking.com, Airbnb or Vrbo itself. Smoobu does that, and BineBoost changes nothing about it.
- No guest registration with the authorities, no cleaning schedules, no key handover, no smart lock.
- Not a website. BineBoost provides the booking flow that goes into an existing website, not the site around it.
- Not a payment provider. No money flows through BineBoost and there is no commission per booking. Card payments run through the host's own Stripe account.
- No group booking across any number of units. If no single property is large enough, BineBoost proposes at most two matching units as a package. The building block can be switched on or off per account; tell us if you need it.
- No design per property. The look applies to the whole account. What can be set differently per property are the pricing rules, not the styling.
- No export button. There is no way in the interface today to download your own settings. On request they are handed over as a file.
BineBoost and the Smoobu booking engine
Who does what when both are in use. This is a division of labour, not a comparison.
| Smoobu handles | Calendars and availability, the connections to Booking.com, Airbnb and the other channels, guest communication, invoices and reporting. The standard Smoobu booking engine covers the standard case: one nightly price per occupancy and optionally a surcharge per additional guest. |
|---|---|
| BineBoost handles | Only the booking flow on the host's own website: search, calendar, price calculation, payment choice and confirmation, in the host's own design and with pricing rules beyond the standard case. At the end it writes the booking back into Smoobu. |
| What does not change | Nothing inside Smoobu. BineBoost writes bookings and reads availability and rates; settings, channels and calendars stay untouched. If BineBoost goes down, channels and the Smoobu account carry on, because they do not run through BineBoost. |
Who BineBoost is built for, and who it is not built for
BineBoost is built for hosts and property managers of holiday rentals who have a Smoobu account and their own website, and whose pricing goes beyond a nightly rate plus an extra guest: child rates by age group, tourist tax with its own tax rate, a tiered down payment, long stay and early bird discounts, a non-refundable rate alongside the flexible one. It is equally built for property managers who want several Smoobu accounts bookable under one website, and for anyone who finds the standard widget too far removed from the look of their own site.
It is not built for three cases. First, anyone without a Smoobu account or anyone hoping to replace Smoobu: BineBoost is the wrong route there, because it does not run without Smoobu. Second, hosts with no website of their own who let exclusively through portals; all that is left for them is the plain booking link, and that rarely justifies the effort. Third, anyone the Smoobu booking engine already serves well. In that case BineBoost is extra setup and extra cost with nothing in return, and it is better to say so up front.
How the data flows
A guest opens the booking flow on the host's website. For the chosen dates BineBoost asks the Smoobu API for availability and rates and calculates the price from them using the rules the host has set. The guest picks a payment route and a rate; the price is recalculated and verified on the server before the booking is created, so a manipulated amount from the browser never gets through.
The booking is then created directly in the Smoobu calendar through the API, with the price breakdown, the down payment and the guest details. From there Smoobu synchronises to the connected channels as usual. If the guest pays by card, the amount is only held at first and captured once the booking really is in Smoobu. The Smoobu credentials are stored AES-256-GCM encrypted throughout, and the card itself is only ever entered at Stripe. The details are on the security page.
Who is behind BineBoost
Behind BineBoost there is no company with departments but a single person: Christian Strigl, a sole trader in Oetz in the Tyrolean Oetztal valley. He rents out holiday flats himself and manages them with Smoobu. BineBoost grew out of that need, not out of a market analysis. Development, support and invoicing all run from the same address, and whoever writes in gets an answer from the person who wrote the code.
You can check that against the full postal address and the VAT number ATU78861368 in the legal notice, against membership of the Austrian Economic Chamber and against Bezirkshauptmannschaft Silz as the trade authority. The business carries professional indemnity cover of 500,000 € and public liability cover of 3,000,000 € with Hiscox.
How far along BineBoost is today
BineBoost is a young product. The first version shipped on 1 July 2026 and releases have followed continuously since, most recently a setting that overrides the Smoobu minimum stay on the host's own booking page only, while the channels keep seeing it unchanged. It is still in beta: that means the feature set grows noticeably from month to month, and it also means this is not a product that has been maturing for years.
What is still missing is stated openly on the roadmap, with the complete list of versions since July 2026. Claims about Smoobu are measured rather than asserted: what BineBoost does and does not get through the API is written down with source and date in the section on the API in our guide Smoobu booking engine add-ons, extensions and third party providers. The line by line version exists in German only, in Was das Smoobu-Buchungssystem kann und was nicht.
Frequently asked questions
What does BineBoost cost?
9.00 € per month for the first property and 5.25 € for each additional one, plus VAT in each case. Yearly billing is 10% cheaper, which comes to 97.20 € per year for the first property. There is no commission per booking and no setup fee. Before that you get 7 days with the full feature set for free, without a credit card; the trial ends by itself.
Do you need a Smoobu account for BineBoost?
Yes. Without an active Smoobu account with API access BineBoost does not run at all, because availability and rates come from Smoobu and every booking is written back there. The connection uses a key pair of API key and secret that you create in Smoobu yourself and can revoke at any time. Whether your Smoobu plan includes API access is shown in your own Smoobu account.
How do bookings reach Smoobu?
Through the official Smoobu API, the moment the guest books. BineBoost creates the booking in your Smoobu calendar with the price breakdown, the down payment and the guest details; from there Smoobu synchronises to the connected channels as usual. Every request is signed with your own key pair. BineBoost reads availability and rates, creates bookings and changes or cancels only the bookings it created itself; it changes no calendar, channel or account settings and never touches bookings from other sources.
BineBoost or the Smoobu booking engine?
It is not an either-or. BineBoost replaces the booking flow on your own website, while Smoobu stays underneath as channel manager and property management system and keeps the calendar, the channel connections and the guest communication. The Smoobu booking engine covers the standard case: one nightly price per occupancy and optionally a surcharge per additional guest. If that is enough for you, you do not need BineBoost.
Is BineBoost trustworthy?
That can only be answered with things you can check, so here they are: the provider is a real Austrian sole trader with a full postal address, VAT number ATU78861368, membership of the Austrian Economic Chamber and Bezirkshauptmannschaft Silz as the trade authority. Server and database are in Amsterdam, a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place, the SLA promises 99.5% availability with an automatic credit, and the business carries professional indemnity cover of 500,000 € and public liability cover of 3,000,000 € with Hiscox. Just as honestly: BineBoost is young, it has been running since July 2026 and is still in beta.
What happens if I stop using it?
Your bookings stay where they always were: in your Smoobu account. BineBoost created them there and never kept them, so nothing is lost. What is lost are your BineBoost settings, meaning pricing rules, texts and design. There is no export button for them in the interface today; on request you get your settings as a file. On your website you swap the code snippet back for the standard Smoobu widget.
Who is behind BineBoost?
Christian Strigl, a sole trader in Oetz in the Tyrolean Oetztal valley, Austria. He rents out holiday flats himself and manages them with Smoobu; BineBoost grew out of that need. There is no investor, no team and no call centre: he answers support requests himself. The full details are in the legal notice.
